Terms of Service
Effective Date: September 30, 2026
Welcome to Slatewood Engraving. These Terms of Service govern your use of our website, products, services, and purchases from Slatewood Engraving LLC (“Slatewood Engraving,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By accessing our website, placing an order, requesting custom work, or purchasing our products or services, you agree to these Terms of Service.
1. Products and Services
Slatewood Engraving creates personalized and custom laser-engraved products, gifts, home décor, business merchandise, promotional items, and related products.
Because many of our products are individually customized, the appearance of the final product may vary slightly from photographs, previews, mockups, or samples shown online.
Natural materials such as wood and slate may contain variations in grain, texture, color, thickness, edges, knots, markings, and other naturally occurring characteristics. These variations are not considered defects.
2. Custom and Personalized Orders
Customers are responsible for providing accurate personalization information when placing an order.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Names
Initials
Monograms
Dates
Addresses
Messages
Logos
Artwork
Spelling
Capitalization
Punctuation
Design instructions
Please review all personalization information carefully before submitting your order.
Slatewood Engraving is not responsible for errors contained in information submitted or approved by the customer.
Once production has begun on a personalized product, the order generally cannot be changed or canceled.
3. Design Proofs and Approval
For certain custom projects, Slatewood Engraving may provide a digital proof or mockup before production.
If customer approval is requested, production may not begin until approval is received.
By approving a proof, the customer confirms that the design, spelling, names, dates, layout, and other personalization information are correct.
Slatewood Engraving is not responsible for errors that were present in a customer-approved proof.
4. Customer-Provided Artwork
Customers may provide logos, graphics, photographs, text, artwork, or other materials for engraving.
By submitting such materials, you represent that you own the materials or have permission and legal authority to use and reproduce them.
You agree not to submit material that infringes upon another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other intellectual-property rights.
Slatewood Engraving reserves the right to decline any project at our discretion.
5. Pricing
Prices are displayed in U.S. dollars unless otherwise stated.
Prices may change without notice.
Custom, business, wholesale, and bulk projects may require individual quotations.
Applicable taxes, shipping charges, customization charges, design charges, and other fees may be added where appropriate and will generally be disclosed before the purchase is completed.
6. Payment
Payment must be made using an accepted payment method.
Custom or personalized orders may require full payment before production begins.
Large, business, or bulk orders may be subject to separate payment terms communicated as part of the quotation or invoice.
7. Order Changes and Cancellations
Contact Slatewood Engraving as quickly as possible if you need to change or cancel an order.
We will attempt to accommodate requests when reasonably possible.
However, because personalized products may enter production quickly, we cannot guarantee that an order can be changed or canceled after it has been submitted.
Once customization or production has begun, the order cannot normally be canceled.
8. Shipping and Delivery
Shipping and delivery estimates are estimates and are not guarantees unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
Slatewood Engraving is not responsible for delays caused by shipping carriers, severe weather, natural disasters, incorrect customer-provided addresses, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Customers are responsible for providing an accurate and complete shipping address.
9. Returns and Refunds
Because our products are custom-made and personalized, returns and refunds are limited.
Please review our separate Return & Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
10. Natural Material Variations
Slate, wood, and other natural materials are inherently unique.
Natural variations may include differences in:
Color
Grain
Texture
Thickness
Stone pattern
Edge appearance
Knots
Engraving contrast
Surface markings
These natural variations contribute to the unique character of the finished product and are not considered manufacturing defects.
11. Product Images
We make reasonable efforts to display products accurately.
However, actual colors, textures, engraving contrast, and material characteristics may appear differently depending on lighting, photography, screen settings, and the natural characteristics of the material.
12. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the Slatewood Engraving website, branding, logos, product photography, original designs, written content, graphics, and other original materials are owned by Slatewood Engraving LLC or used with permission.
They may not be reproduced, distributed, copied, sold, or commercially used without permission.
13. Prohibited Use
You may not use our website or services for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorized purposes.
You may not attempt to interfere with the operation or security of our website or services.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Slatewood Engraving LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of our website, products, or services.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability relating to a purchased product will not exceed the amount paid for the product giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
15. Website Availability
We may modify, suspend, discontinue, or update portions of our website, products, pricing, or services at any time without prior notice.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted website availability.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
